Week Three: (C) Carve Your Initials Into a Tree!

Yesss.
This is probably one of my favorite challenges, only because I've always wanted to do this.

In my mind, I picture myself in "The Giving Tree," becoming best friends with this tree or something. Or like on of those sappy romantic movies where their initials are drawn together with a little heart around it. The cartoons make it seem really easy, just take a knife and write on the tree, just like a pencil and paper. Cos paper is made from trees, so it's pretty much the same thing. . . right?

Right?!

Aha. Yeah. . . no. First of all, I used a screwdriver. Nothing like digging into solid wood with a blunt object. But here's the thing, in my mind-- I should really stop agreeing with everything in my mind-- the wider the end that I'm carving with, the better it will show up. Now, that might very well be the case, but the actual cutting-into-the-wood thing, isn't as ideal.

Also, I didn't get a chance to do this task until tonight, which is a Sunday, at like, 9:30. So I was looking for a tree in the dark, which wasn't very easy, but, I succeeded!

AND, I have photographic proof!

Remember that thing I said about it not working out that great? I wasn't kidding. But, third task = done!

Until next week!
